~THE TIPS AND TRICKS TO A SUCCESSFUL BLOG~

TIP 1:
Choose a topic that you like and that you know.
-The best blogs come from writing about what you know. It helps you have a personal tie to the subject, and it allows you to give the readers more insight.

TIP 2:
Make the blog titles catchy.
-In order to have people read a blog, the heading should draw readers in. They do not want to read something dull.

TIP 3:
Continuously update your blog
-If you want a successful blog, make an attempt to post blogs on a regular basis. If a reader likes a site, they will come back. But you will only have their attention as long as you are blogging.

TIP 4:
Don't force a subject.
-Your subject for your blog should come from a passionate place. People can tell whether or not you care about what you are talking about.

TIP 5:
Be yourself.
-A blog represents who you are, so make sure it is a good reflection of yourself.

TIP 6:
HAVE FUN!!!!!

Who is hot? Who is not?... People to watch

It first started with Myspace, then it was Facebook, and now the most trending social site is Twitter.  In the Twitter world, one of the things I do, and I am pretty sure others do is follow those people that will bring COLOR to their timeline. This essentially means you want to follow those that will keep you entertained. A couple of the people I follow that have amazing tweets are Epic Tweets and iRespectFemales. They give me encouraging words and keep me laughing at the same time.

When it comes to celebrities my ALL TIME FAVORITE person to follow is Kevin Hart. He is not only funny on Twitter, but has several stand up comedy acts that you should watch.

For the most part, I avoid anybody with Twitter accounts that are disrespectful or are misleading (i.e.  those people pretending to be celebrities... Not cool guys!!!) Anyway, check these people out, you will probably love them just as much as I do.

Remember: “We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken"

LazyPeople.org

So one thing that has always bothered me is people who join organizations just for the credentials. Now don't get me wrong, all the organizations I have been apart of are going straight to that resume. The difference being is while I am there, I am involved and doing my part. What is your part exactly? Well if you don't know you can always look to your constitution, there to guide you or ask a fellow team member how they are so productive in comparison to you. Just a suggestion. It will make the org that much better and allow for a better work environment.

My mini rant about lazy folks:

A Splash of the Media

Social Media Scenario: Oh no! I left my cell phone at home, and it is really important for me to get a hold of the president of my organization because we have to finish planning this meeting. What to do?

Solution: Well, I do have a twitter account where I can easily connect with her and I can easily find a computer on campus. Thanks Social Media!!!
-------And Scene--------

While that is a more cheesy way of looking at social media, it is a very important way to stay updated. For most companies, organizations, or anything you really do, being able to reach people depends on the use of different social medias.

But to come closer to home, all my organizations have both a twitter account and a Facebook. It helps us to keep people up to date with what we are doing. Also it helps to see what our friends and followers are doing to help us learn more about what programs we should plan.

Let's Go to the Experts

Guess what happened this week? I mean this is really big news. The anticipation of knowing is killing you, isn't it? I quit an organization. While I am always the first to stress the importance of finding an organization, sometimes you realize when something is not the right fit. I think I was overwhelmed and I was not putting my all into this particular organization because it was not the right fit. Do not let the chances of this happening to you get you discouraged.

I read that, "extracurricular activities provide a setting to become involved and to interact with other students, thus leading to increased learning and enhanced development."
Can you believe it? So there is actual substance to what I am saying. (I'm just saying) Well if you want more incite, check out some web pages that explain it all.....

BECOME ONE WITH THE ORGANIZATION

MY FIRST ORGANIZATION

FRESHMAN ACTION TEAM- F.A.T

The first lucky organization I graced with my presence was Freshman Action Team. Of course I will not go into who was involved (duh, the Freshmen), but for all first year students, we accomplished several things. The purpose of the organization was to help prepare us for leadership roles in the African American Association, which F.A.T. was an umbrella organization of. While I did run for a position and lost (sad day), I still managed to be the  programming chair. I was able to plan programs like movie nights, game nights, study parties, and I also was able to get guest speakers for the meetings.

The faces you see your freshman year, are generally not all the same faces in years to follow. People come to college not quite ready to handle the responsibility. Luckily for my class, the same faces I saw in that organization, are the same ones I see now, and I think the seeds planted in us from F.A.T helped us to grow and stay productive in school.

If You're Happy and You Know it , GET INVOLVED!!!!

My name is Annessa, and I am  a senior, and if I have learned one thing since being in college, one thing that helped me stay sane, one thing that made getting up and making that long journey to campus worth while, is getting involved. I have been joining various organizations from my start here at OSU. They give me a great chance to be around those who share my interest. (People in my major classes do not count)

So why get involved?
BECAUSE I SAID SO!!!

I am just joking. You will eventually have to dive into the real world, get a job and buckle down. Get the maximum happiness out of your experience by doing what you LOVE. <3
